Need for Standardization: Influence of Artificial Canal Size on Cyclic Fatigue Tests of Endodontic Instruments

The aim was to evaluate the influence of artificial canal size on results cyclic fatigue tests for endodontic instruments. Dynamic at body temperature using continuous tapered nickel–titanium F6-SkyTaper instruments (Komet, Lemgo, Germany), 25/.06 with an amplitude 3 mm, tested in four different simulated root canals: (A) instrument +0.02 mm (within tolerances instruments); (B) +0.05 mm; (C) +0.10 (D) parallel tube 1.25 diameter. canals (angle curvature 60°, radius 5.0 center mm) were produced by a LASER-melting technique. Time and cycles fracture, lengths fractured recorded statistically analyzed (Student–Newman–Keuls; Kruskal–Wallis test). fracture significantly increased increasing following order: A < B, C D (p 0.05).
